Becoming a Blogger

Six months ago I made decision to take a leap of faith and pursue a career of becoming a health coach. Starting the program in May, I had no idea what exactly it entailed or the journey I was about to embark on. All I knew was that I wanted to help people eat healthy and become the best versions of themselves. My desire to start this new path in uncertain territory began with my husband. Helping him over the past 2 years on his weight loss journey and my love of cooking sparked something that made me think, “This is so fun, I wonder how many other people I could help.” Should I be a nutritionist? A meal planner? Personal chef? The opportunities seemed endless. I came upon the idea of health coaching as a perfect balance of incorporating the nutrition piece with overall mind/body wellness into what I wanted to do.

Backtracking to how this came about. Last Christmas eve, we did a special 7 course dinner which I decided needed to be documented so I took photos of all the food I made, the spark was lit. I used some of these photos when I applied to be a home cook for a site called Josephine.com, and began taking more photos to promote the food on social media that I was cooking to sell. This was a short 3 month adventure, but it spiraled into something greater.

In February, we began transitioning from a Paleo diet to experimenting with a Keto diet which I knew nothing about, other than it required more planning with macros, more on that later. In my mind this was way too much brain power to do each night after work. So I thought why not make everything on one day? It was a task for sure but it created more time for workouts and better meal timing during the week, which was a plus. My husband encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone and join other social media platforms to share my meal prep photos and recipes, which was a challenge since I usually just make it up as I go. He suggested starting a blog as a better way to showcase what I was doing which I resisted, too much work I thought, I’m not ready for that big of a step. Well a few weeks ago, the idea of a blog resurfaced during a coaching call with one of my clients who was thinking of restarting his own blog. He also suggested that I start one too, with everything I was already doing on social media it would be an easy transition to a blog. So here I am, starting my blog to share with you my journey, my services as a health and wellness coach, my food and meal prep ideas, and motivation that you deserve to be the best version of yourself to live a long and happy life!
